Opening Comments

pirate beard oilThe first thing one is struck by when opening this bottle of beard oil is the glorious colour.

The oil is a magnificent, deep and vibrant hue of orange. It is genuinely wonderful to behold. This is a result of the Rosehip and Argan oils combined and is a mark of a truly unrefined oil. Just observe the photo at the top of this post to see the quality.

Interestingly carrot-seed oil is also contained in the mixture, which has its own host of valuable and noteworthy characteristics.

As ever, in my on-going search for the best beard oil in the world, I set about performing my strict set of beard oil review procedures.

Lingerability

This oil by default is lightly scented and during our tests the scent faded 12 minutes after application.

This – however – is not necessarily a bad thing. I know many a man who does not wish to stroll around with a fragrant oil invading his nostrils all morning.

Please note that Green Gaia Creations have a custom order process and will happily increase the scent intensity – should you wish to sample this delightful oil with a stronger lingerabilty and emenation factor.

Emanation

Our tests designed to identify the best beard oils in all of humanity, reveal that this blend emanates 0.78m from the tip of the chin.

One has to lean in close to the beard to smell the wondering warm scent that remains.

This is a beard oil for the stoic man, who speaks only when he has words of weight to deliver.

Emotional Response

Application of this oil elicits a massive ‘ahhhhhhhh’ and a huge grin.

At once the aromas literally burst into your face. Each aspect of this oil’s scent is bold and individually recognizable.

Coconut, carrot, ginger, nutmeg and the essence of a refined urban pirate all hit you at once.

The experience is one of scope and broad horizons; it reaches to the ends of the earth and plunges your head underwater just to remind you of the fact! My thick cocked hat prevented the intense glare of the 3pm sun from entering my eyes, as I whimsically barbecued the freshest fish imaginable from a clear ocean of such depth and wisdom that my soul gave a happy sigh at its very suggestion.

I was filled with joy and vigor and my testosterone levels momentarily tripled! I was as a physically enraged yet mentally calm primate, ambling through a jungle of the most enormous coconut palms with nervous and potentially violent intent. I was able to temporarily see in 4 directions all at once!

This experience rapidly faded, leaving a pleasant, tangy waft trailing behind it.

90% Wonderful stuff!

Greasiness

Be aware that the Occidental Pirate is a comparatively thick oil. It took a full 190 seconds to traverse the 43cm glass substrate, compared to the 60 second benchmark average!

However, I suspect this is an intentional design factor from the crew at Green Gaia Creations. This oil is predominantly based on Argan Oil as the carrier – which is universally regarded for its hair enriching properties – and this clearly contributes to the extreme lustrousness that this oil achieves.

Hair Impact

beard oil in garden

Hair impact is where the Occidental Pirate really stands out and makes it’s mark on the world. This beard oil delivers almost unprecedented levels of lustrousness. When I looked in the mirror after applying this juice, it was as if my beard had literally doubled in density! Every strand of hair stood proudly, as if happily proclaiming it had just devoured a delicious and nourishing breakfast.

The high Argan oil content makes this a premium product and the Green Gaia crew have done well to achieve such an affect at such a low price point.

If you sport a long, or heavy set beard then this special Argan based sauce could be the one for you.

80% Outstanding!

Skin Impact

I applied this oil to the skin around my beard and I am delighted to report that the softness of the skin was measurably improved, without any trace of greasiness being left behind. All the goodness was of the oil was fully absorbed within 11 minutes.

80% Wonderful!

Value

This oil comes in a manly 50ml bottle, which weighs in at $17 AUD + $8 P&P = a total of $25. I don’t need a calculator to tell me this equates to $0.50 per ml. Exactly half the average cost of beard oil!

Given that so many beard oils are shipped in piddly little 25ml bottles, it is refreshing to see yet another artisan breaking the mold and providing more sensible 50ml products by default.

This is genuinely excellent value. I therefore award:

90% Very good value

Overall

So, overall, based on the weighted factoring of all criteria, the Occidental Pirate Beard Oil by Green Gaia Creations scores an:

82%

A refreshing beard oil that delivers profound nourishing affects and achieves incredible lustrousness. Strongly recommended.
